Atul Suri has spent more than three decades studying and investing in Indian equities. His journey began in 1991 as a fundamental analyst at Parag Parikh Financial Advisory, where he learned to look beyond the story and understand what really sits behind a business — its earnings, its numbers, and the quality of its growth.

He later pursued a master’s degree in finance in Sydney, adding a quantitative perspective to his fundamental understanding of markets.

In 2008, Atul joined RARE Enterprises as a portfolio manager, working alongside Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. He managed a concentrated portfolio through the global financial crisis and the decade that followed, experiencing first-hand how markets behave through different cycles.

Those years reinforced an important lesson: being right about a business is only part of investing. Knowing when a trend has changed matters just as much. Conviction needs discipline, and every position needs a clear framework for managing risk.

This experience eventually shaped the philosophy behind Trend Following, the PMS strategy of Marathon Trends Advisory.

Today, Atul combines fundamental understanding with technical analysis and a deep study of market trends. The objective is simple: identify where strength is emerging, participate while the trend remains intact, and step aside when the trend changes.

With 35 years of experience across different market environments, Atul and the team bring together fundamental insight, quantitative thinking and disciplined trend following to navigate India’s constantly changing markets.
